Inspiration
Even though this verse refers to the Babylonian captivity of Israel and their eventual restoration and redemption, it contains a timeless principle and promise that cannot be forgotten. As it is stated, the Lord is always near to those who seek Him, and those who seek the Lord in spirit and in truth will surely find Him.
Jesus Christ is already known to Christians as our Savior, for He died to bridge the unbridgeable gap between a holy God and an imperfect race. Yet, as with Israel, we are promised greater knowledge and a closer relationship with the Lord if we plow into the depths of His Word. His truth is within our grasp, and we will stare into His face with steadiness. This is the face of the Lord Jesus Christ.
As with Israel, we are promised that when we seek Him with all our hearts, He will be found by us. In that light, let us freely abandon the “good” in order to seek out the very best with wholeness of heart, fervor of spirit, sincerity of soul, and diligence of mind. It is our belief that all who seek the Lord will find Him to be a source of rest for their souls, healing for the heart, hope for the future, and eternal life.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, it is a blessing for me to be Your child. The more I seek You through Your Word and come before Your throne of grace in prayer and praise, the more I will come to know You. I pray that You will fill my heart with a desire to discover a deeper understanding of Your perfect character than I have ever witnessed before. And I pray for You to instill in my heart a desire to seek You more and seek You with my whole heart. In Christ, let me reflect You in word, deed, and thought.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
