In the midst of life's problems, it's easy for us to start wondering, "Does God hear me?", or "Why doesn't He answer my prayers?" Like Habakkuk, we often feel angry and discouraged when we see terrible things happen. God's answer to Habakkuk is the same answer He gives us when we wait for His promise of ultimate victory over evil to come true: Although it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, it will come. It will take place at its appointed time and it will not be delayed. Through waiting, Habakkuk realizes that ultimately, God is sovereign over all and more powerful than even the Babylonians, who are merely putty in God's hands. Habakkuk is therefore encouraged and strengthened. Likewise, through waiting, we realize God is Sovereign. We can be at peace, knowing God is in control. When nothing seems to be happening, we have a hard time waiting. But God works out his plans with perfect timing. What He wants done will be done in His time. We just need to trust Him.
Dear Heavenly Father, Your timing is perfect. Thanks for Your relentlessly working in my life. Help me wait patiently for Your vision, the purpose You have for my life, to come true. Ignite my heart with Your Holy Fire so that I may live my life according to Your perfect plan. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
Acts 19:18
And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.
Matthew 12:27
And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
1 Peter 1:6
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
Luke 8:24
And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
