According to this verse, Paul makes a point regarding the benefit of salvation we receive immediately. For those who die without Christ, suffering is merely pain, loss, and frustration that results in no particular benefit and brings no resolution. Suffering, however, has a purpose for those in Christ since we are destined for something greater. As a matter of fact, it accomplishes great good in our lives. Rejoicing in suffering may not seem natural in light of trials and tribulations. Paul, however, emphasizes that they should never be a source of complaint. In his teaching, he explains that suffering for the sake of Christ is a badge of honor for the saint of God. In spite of our suffering, we should rejoice. As we suffer, we should maintain an attitude of thanksgiving and praise. Regardless of what difficulties we may encounter, we are to rejoice in the Lord. According to Paul, tribulation produces perseverance, which develops a godly character that ultimately leads to hope. As a result, we will never have cause to doubt that the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the indwelling Holy Spirit, which we received the moment we placed our trust in Christ as our Savior.
Dear Heavenly Father, we have been warned that we, as followers of Christ, will encounter many trials and tribulations, persecution and affliction. Through our sufferings, we hope to grow stronger in the holy purpose we have been called to fulfill. Thank You for saving me and providing me with hope in Christ. I pray for a teachable spirit and the ability to rejoice in the Lord no matter what difficulties I am faced with. May my life be a testimony to Your goodness and grace. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.

Matthew 10:22
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
James 5:11
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
