“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God.” This verse reminds us of the purpose behind Christ’s suffering: He died to bring us to God. Jesus, the just one, suffered in our place—the unjust—and through His death, we are reconciled to God. The resurrection is the ultimate confirmation of this reconciliation. Because Christ is risen, we know that our sins have been forgiven, and we have access to the Father.
