The people of Judah found rest in the words of King Hezekiah, and this highlights the importance of trusting in God’s promises. Hezekiah’s words were a reflection of God’s faithfulness, and the people rested in the assurance that God would protect and deliver them. Just as the people of Israel were comforted by the leadership of their king, we are called to find rest in God’s word. God’s promises are a source of true rest for our souls. When we are weary, anxious, or burdened by life’s trials, we can find peace by meditating on His promises. His word is not only a source of guidance but also of comfort. It reassures us that we are not alone, and that He is faithful to fulfill His word. In our daily struggles, it’s easy to forget that God’s promises are steadfast. However, just as Hezekiah reminded the people of Judah, we must remind ourselves that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. When we rest upon God’s promises, we acknowledge that He is in control, and we surrender our anxieties to Him. His peace surpasses understanding and guards our hearts and minds.
Psalms 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psalms 32:7
Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Matthew 5:4
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
